Ain’t Nothing Going on But the ‘Rents

I have the parental units visiting this weekend. Oh the joy! No, really…it is a joy to see them. As I’ve written before my stepmother has Alzheimers and my father hasn’t always dealt with it well. He’s always been a man on a short fuse with a bark terrifying more scary than his bite and having them visit is usually quite stressful. This weekend (so far) has been much less so than usual. Because they like to have their own space they actually don’t sleep at my house but book in to the hotel which is conveniently a 1 min walk from my house and we have their dog stay with us. Sometimes the dog is the best behaved of all of us.

We’ve had a super relaxing day and sat around watching films this afternoon…Bridge of Spies…highly recommended. We went out with my sister and the rest of my family for Italian food and sat around chatting for hours. My daughter and her boyfriend were there, along with her boyfriends young son. He’s such a lively little one…he runs them wild for hours and as I watched her exhausted, tired but happy, helping him eat his food and playing with him at the table it made me appreciate the moment…though I did tell her that the tiredness was payback and I loved it!
