Be a Champ, not a Chump

I’ve sat staring at this for a while not being able to decide what to write about today. Not because I don’t have something to write about…I do. But because I’m debating whether I should write about it. I’ve decided on the whole not to and I’ll tell you why.  This weekend held a lot of positives for me..some small wins and some major, some exciting and some mundane but still positives. I am surrounded by skilled, creative, loving people that energise and excite me.  Here’s some examples:

  • Delicate Flower and RockBlossom’s talk at BVN on Saturday was outstanding.  They did a discussion on Dealing with Rejection and Building Resilience for bloggers and vloggers. Del talked about how she is training to a be a psychotherapist (I think that’s the right one though anyone that knows Del well may well believe the word therapist is an accidental inclusion). So, Del was able to give really useful techniques and ways of thinking about issues and rejection from a clinical point of view. Rock also had experiences and learnings to share from those that really made me think. I consider myself quite resilient but I found this talk fascinating and useful. You can watch it yourself on the BVN You Tube Channel.
  • Callie Hamelin’s Blogging 102 at the BVuNiversity on Sunday morning was superb. Callie is one of my favourite bloggers and the information and her approach to the lesson on Sunday just made me even more in awe of her. She was warm, friendly and shared her knowledge with a passion that was evident to every student in the room. I’m even more of a Callie fangirl than I was already and if you don’t follow her blog you really should! Here’s a link to one of her recent blogposts.
  • I spent time watching some tutorials on photography in Second Life this weekend. Inspired mainly by Zedekiah and the work I know he puts into his craft which always has me in awe. His modesty when talking about his photography always surprises me and I know that he has spent a lot of time teaching himself. His desire to continually improve inspires me too. You can check out his flickr here.

Now, the thing that I decided not to talk about and why. One small thing happened to unsettle me a little toward the end of the weekend. That was what I was going to write about. Then I thought why? Why would I do that? When I’ve had a weekend surrounded by wonderful people, good friends full of laughter and love and learning. Why would I talk about a minor irritant in my life that has very little consequence to the big picture of how my SL is?

So today, I win. Because I have everything I want and need in Second Life and I have remembered to focus on that.
