I literally just got back from a few days away where I was pretty much working 18 hour days running a conference. I enjoyed it but I’ll admit I’m exhausted. I didn’t get much time to myself, where I thought I would and to cap it all I had a fall while we were packing up the conference room and knocked my knee. I’m sitting here now with my leg up feeling a bit sorry for myself. I fell in front of a couple of colleagues and whilst it was painful my pride was hurt too. Of course my colleagues came to my aid quickly and during the journey home I was thinking about how in real life we rarely want to see anyone fall but in Second Life there are so many that wish for nothing more than to see someone metaphorically fall from grace.
I didn’t realise how much so, as I surround myself with positive, good people who consistently give off good vibes and positive energy but you just have to look at Facebook or sites like SL Secrets to see how much people revel in others misfortune.
I wrote a blog post, that I thought was positive, about change recently. I was explaining that I had a lot of changes going on in my RL and SL and that change always makes me anxious even when it’s a good change. I am very happy and positive – all things are good in my life at the moment, especially the changes. I have promotions and job offers in real life. Zedekiah and I are changing the sim which we are both excited about and we’ve also made some commitments to the future that are extremely positive. But, because I mentioned changes in that post some people automatically assumed the worst…or did they just hope the worst? It made me aware that there are people out there who can’t wait for someone or something to fail and hawkishly look out in the hope of signs of bad things. For those very few people…I’m sorry to disappoint you but I’ve never been happier so you are going to have to look elsewhere for your negativity fix.
