Cease to Amaze

It never ceases to amaze me how inappropriately people can behave in Second Life. My friend Grace, and her partner Ziggy, own the beautiful Achill Island and some of the antics of visitors have given us quite a few laughs over the last few days since it opened. Now, they live on the sim so they are often there and it didn’t surprise me that people just tried to walk in their house while they are there…even with a big ole PRIVATE sign up and a warning message as soon as you try to enter. I’ve owned sims in the past, Less Than Three with a partner, and Take Heart, that I lived on while it was open to the public and had exactly the same issues. At Take Heart one day I had a message from Grace to tell me that two people were actually having sex on the landing point. I tp’d down, messaged them both privately…nothing! Spoke in local….nothing! Hit eject and suddenly that got their attention. The guy then IM’d me and asked why he had been ejected so I told him that the sim had rules, and even though it was adult rated, that did not mean it was appropriate to have sex on the landing point (I don’t know about you but people loitering on a landing point is annoying enough let alone them shagging on it!). He argued that because my sim was rated adult he was entitled to have sex wherever he wanted…like I had no say in how he used my home!!!! I pointed out it’s actually possible to go to a pub and not partake of alcohol and maybe he should apply that logic. Not even 20 minutes passed after ejecting him than he was back in my IM and asked me on a date!!! I declined, as you can imagine, on the grounds that I don’t date people whose boney ass I’ve already seen banging a noob on my floor. NOTHING surprises me anymore after that. Though ‘pigeon on a fence woman’ from Achill might have just raised the bar a bit. You’ll have to ask Gracey what that is all about!
