I need SL and my therapeutic blogging more than ever! Being able to create beauty in a virtual world really is a ‘breath of fresh air’ right now. I spent a few hours yesterday going through the items I had received in blogger packs. I often see comments from creators about event bloggers ‘taking things and not blogging them.’ Well, I am probably one of those bloggers. Events often have a blogger room or blogger day, where you go and pick up the review copies. Often that room or those copies are not available to you after the blogger review day.
I don’t know what I am going to blog on that day. I don’t know what I am going to like and want to share with my readers on that day. I don’t know if that dress fits me on that day. I don’t know how well the item is textured on that day. So, I take everything. I take it home and unpack it. I look at it alongside the other items to see if items work together for a picture. I put on the dresses, skins, hair, accessories and style an outfit. I swap out colours and styles. Then I photograph and blog what I am required to do…(usually I blog way more than the requirements). If I like an item but can’t find a way to use it I keep it and often use it in the future, directing people to the store instead of the event if the event has ended. Event blogging is very, very different from blogging for a store. We are there to promote the event as a whole and create a scene, or style an outfit, showing elements from a few different brands in one photograph. I enjoy the way I event blog…coming up with ideas as I rez items and seeing a scene develop in my mind as I open the boxes and see the designers creations. It’s far more creative a process than deciding beforehand and only taking 3 or 4 items you know for sure you will blog and usually results in me using more items than I originally planned.
