Happy Sunday!

I was thinking today about what Sunday’s used to be like when I was a child. Shops didn’t open at all on Sunday’s then and the pubs opened for a couple of hours at lunchtime and then closed again until later in the evening. It was housework day in our home too. We all had our chores that had to be done on a Sunday morning. Mine was cleaning the bathroom and I still detest that job til today. We always had a Sunday roast dinner around 1pm and then a small Sunday tea at 6pm. Sunday evenings there would always be a good TV drama on one of the 4 TV channels we had back then. We’d watch that, usually something like Poirot mysteries, and then early to bed ready to start the next week.

When the campaign to open shops on Sunday started, the counter argument was that Sunday would lose it’s special day status. Sunday would become just like any other day of the week. On the whole that has happened to a large degree. I do sometimes feel nostalgic for the more relaxed Sundays of the past.

I was introduced this week to a brand called Avani and after looking at the items I was super impressed. They very much fit the aesthetic that I enjoy blogging and photographing the most.
