I have not watched the current season of The Crown…yet. I probably will but I think the recent death of The Queen has somewhat put me off diving into the most torrid and depressing time of British Royal History.
At my grand old age I remember it all. It doesn’t feel like long-ago history. I remember the front pages and the TV news covering Diana wearing the famous Revenge Dress. She looked incredible. She knew it. Everyone knew it. I will always be Team Diana but it was watching The Crown and realising that Camilla was truly, always the love of Charles’ life and that really the Royal Family were to blame for thrusting 2, completely inappropriate for each other, people together. With age also comes the wisdom to realise that they both behaved appallingly to each other because of it. Although one of them was worse and had far more power at the start.
