I’m sure I have used this song for a post before but this felt super appropriate today. It’s a very special song to me, and Cru. The song itself was written by the lead singer of the band Blue October, Justin Furstenfeld, while on tour, as a love letter to his girlfriend at the time. Sometimes you have to delve deep to find the true meaning of a song but Calling You is super straightforward with lyrics about missing someone and the struggles of long distance relationships. It seeks to reassure and ask for reassurance. it realises that both people in that situation might have a wobble or two at some point but continuing to express love and devotion can help overcome those. It’s a simple, easy to understand but beautiful expression of love and vulnerability and I think one of the reasons I love it so much is the lack of nuance…it is very literal.
The dress I am wearing is by COCO at Velvet Bohème and I bought it during set up. Cru had been asking me to try it on but had been so busy that I only just got around to it. So, the outfit, the dress, the song all inspired by him. ♥
