There’s a Guy Works Down the Chip Shop Swears He’s Elvis

*sings* “And He’s a Liar and I’m not sure about you”

Kirsty MacColl’s first hit single. I remember hearing it at the time and being quite bemused by the lyric…and wondering what chip shop she went to. That song popped into my head when I saw the Elvis decal from Floorplan & Consignment in this weeks Fifty Linden Friday hop-a-bout. I’m not sure why an Elvis song didn’t immediately spring to mind as I have lots of favourite Elvis tunes that could have tipped into my consciousness and just this morning had heard Burning Love on the radio.

Elvis has touched everyone’s lives at some point or another. Those 5 letters being instantly recognisable as to who is being referred to. Generations that weren’t even alive before his death in 1977 adore him and his music lives on and I am sure will continue to do so for many more generations.

Kirsty MacColl was also taken too early. In fact at 41 she was a year younger than Elvis was at the time of his death. She didn’t have the worldwide impact but she did leave some tunes behind that played a big part in my younger days. Her cover of A New England was an anthem of a certain period in my life and I didn’t even realise til after her death that she wrote They Don’t Know that Tracy Ullman made so famous. Of course she is probably best known for her collaboration with The Pogues on The Fairytale of New York which many people will name as their favourite Christmas song, myself included.

Both singers leaving legacies after being taken away too young in very different circumstances.

All this retro Elvis talk got me on track for the post and reminded me about this awesome outfit from Tashi for the current round of FAD which opens today. This polka-dot classic called Kristin comes with a colour change hud and 6 different colour options and works perfectly matched with shoes from Tashi at the same event for Slink Mid Height feet. Perfect for any retro vintage lovin gal!

As Fifty Linden Friday and the Elvis deco was the inspiration for the look it’s superbly sublime that Foxes Store had this faux fur stoles as one of their items in the round of FLF! Totally tops off the look.

It’s my last weekend before starting my new job in real life on Tuesday so I am going to make the most of it. I hope you all have a great weekend too.
