I finally got around to visiting the revamped Ironwood Hills sim today. It’s been one of those things on my mental to do list for quite some time. The team at Ironwood Hills do an amazing job of the atmosphere and ambiance of the sim and I LOVE the carneval area where I took the pictures for this post. I had a discussion with a friend today about member only sims. Ironwood isn’t a group member only sim though they do have a lively and fun group to join too and I believe you can rez at the sim with the group tag. We were having the discussion because I’m dj’g for the first time today at Blithe, owned by the amazing Harlow Heslop, and it’s a member only region. Member only sims and parcels seem to be becoming more and more prevalent in SL and I have to say I quite like them. From what I can see when people have paid a membership to join a group for access they value the experience and feel invested and engaged in the activities of the sim. People like the exclusivity and while I don’t want to noob bash…not too many newbies are going to shell out 500L$ to gain access to a region until they have at least mastered some other key aspects of SL and hopefully learned some SLetiquette!
Harlow said I could choose anywhere on the sim to dj but I think for a Blithe virgin set I’ll choose the building nearest the tp point! So if you fancy a couple of hours of top notch alternative, indiepop and rock tunes, and your a member of Blithe, or are happy to become a member, come along from 1-3pm slt. Taxi to Blithe!
