Wow! It’s Sunday again huh? Where did THAT week go? In fact where did that YEAR go? Today is the anniversary of 1 year of blogging on the WordPress platform. I had blogged previously on blogspot but I really didn’t take it very seriously and I was erratic to say the very least. I initially restarted blogging as an outlet for some very hard to deal with times in SL. The preceding week had been the worst I had ever encountered in SL in my 9 years and I needed a new focus and a forum to share my thoughts and feelings. I had no intention of blogging for anyone other than myself. It didn’t even matter if anyone read it…it was the act of ‘doing’ something new and distant from the troubles I was having and writing about my feelings.
Over the next few weeks and months I developed my ‘style’ and improved my techniques for photography etc and I completely fell in love with blogging. Why wouldn’t I? It was my saviour through those dark times. It stopped me sitting at on my empty sim regretting every bad decision I had made through the course of the previous year. Blogging, writing, taking pictures, exploring sims…they became the absolute positives in my SL, other than my amazing friends who were supporting me through the journey.
The most popular post in the year here is still the one that was the hardest but most cathartic to write. 5 Signs that you Might be in SL Relationship with a Narcissist still took me 6 months to write and share. The feedback when I did was touching and astounding. I knew I wasn’t the only one in SL that had ever survived that kind of mental attack and the stories from people that were still in those relationships brought tears to my eyes. I hope they have all found peace away from the narcissists in their lives.
So now as I look forward to my second year blogging on WordPress I am so grateful for everyone that has read the blog, commented, shared and been part of my journey. I am also immensely grateful to those creators and designers who have put their faith in me to help support and promote them and to all those that haven’t too, as they have all made me strive to be better and more accomplished at what I do.
