Yesterday I talked about earworms so let’s get this one out of the way early on….It’s a Small World after all! (apologises and begs forgiveness of everyone that is cussing me out right now). Yesterday I was talking to some potential staff members for as part of a recruitment process in SL and the subject of profiles came up. Now, before I go any further I cn see both sides of this subject but I’m going to talk about my opinion here cos…well it’s my blog and I can. I believe that if you ‘work’ in SL, whether that be paid work or blogging or dj’g and hosting then your profile represents who you are to the consumers and customers of that store, company, club etc. I’ve made sacrifices in this respect…my friends and I have a family display name that I choose not to show in my profile or on my display name option because of my work. No one asked me not to I made that choice because I believe it’s the sensible option. I feel that my role as a blogger is not just to represent the stores I blog for here on the blog but in general. That doesn’t mean I only wear items from those stores 24/7 or only have their deco in my home but it does mean that I proudly show the stores I blog for on my FB profile and my SL profile and as such there is undeniable link between me, as a person and how I behave, and that brand. This is something I’ve always felt since I first started running my own club in SL in 2010.
I was reminded of this recently during a rather ugly discussion in a group I’m a member of where one person argued, insulted and ridiculed most of the other members of the group that responded to anything they said. In my opinion, they showed an extreme level of childishness and immaturity and when I opened their profile there on the front page was all the stores and events that they blogged for. Now, for it to be on the front page they must be quite proud of this status but I wonder how proud of her the stores would be if they had witnessed that conversation? As a brand manager in SL too I can tell you I wouldn’t be happy at all to have my brands name associated with that behaviour in such a large group. So, my point I guess…SL is a small world. When you’re behaving in a certain way you can never be sure who is around you to witness it
About the Stuff:
Where to start! I love choices and you have plenty of options with this beautiful dress from United Colors. First up I love the choices with regards to bodies. I’m wearing Maitreya but I adore my Belleza Freya body and United Colors is one of the best stores for providing items that fit Freya perfectly. If you’re a Freya or any kind of Belleza girl then you need United Colors on your ‘go to’ list of stores. The dress comes in 12 different colours and 10 different metals for the ‘web’.
My hair is from Truth Gacha at The Epiphany. There are three styles available in the gacha all with various hud options and colours. This particular style also comes with extra ‘bangs’ (I’m a Brit that word is soooo nothing to do with hair in the UK lol) and a unicorn horn attachment that comes in bone, black and gold. C88 is still going strong and I’m wearing fri.day’s Zephyr wraps which come in a set of natural/earthy colours and perfect for fantasy or boho looks.
You still have a couple of days to checkout Indie Teepee too and if you haven’t you will kick yourself if you don’t! I’m using an lar poses Oberon Series poses available at the event but get there quick smart as it closes at the end of the weekend!
