Teeba is 7 years old. When she was 19 months old she survived a car bomb in Iraq that killed her father and brother and left her horribly disfigured with multiple burns on her face, scalp and ears. Teeba was adopted by parents in the United States and her adopted mother noticed how people would stare at the toddler with some even saying cruel and hurtful things. As she’s gotten older and started school those comments became more prevalent and started to have more of an impact on Teeba.
“The thing she wants more than anything, that she cries about daily, is having hair,”
Fortunately Teeba is now being treated by a specialist under the auspices of Wigs for Kids to have replacement hair surgery that will not only provide her with wigs to wear while her hair grows back but eventually will lead to her having her own hair.
Today you can help, Teeba and hundreds of other children like her who have lost their hair either to illness, stress or accident by supporting Bandana Day at Hair Fair 2016. All hair at Hair Fair 2016 gives a percentage of sales revenue to Wigs for Kids but the Bandana’s on sale in booths all round the Hair Fair give 100% of the sales revenue directly to Wigs for Kids. There are beautiful ones, practical ones, funny ones and some pretty chic ones for the fashionistas.
Bandana Day’s cry is ‘Remove your hair to show you care. So, as it’s the last day of Hair Fair why not pop over and check out if you missed anything and pick up a couple of Bandana’s today.
