When All I Need’s a Hand to Stop the Tears From Falling

I heard Emeli Sande singing Next to Me on the radio the other morning as I drove to work and the lyrics resonated with me.

You won’t find him drinking at the tables
Rolling dice and staying out ’til three
You won’t ever find him being unfaithful
You will find him, you’ll find him next to me

It got me thinking about how absolutely amazing it feels to be able to 100% believe in another person again. To be able to know, not only in your head but in your gut, that whether you are there or not you need not fear what they may be doing behind your back. Last year I wrote a blog post called 5 Signs That You Might Be in a SL Relationship with a Narcissist and in that I talked about how a narcissist will be paranoid about everyone you talk to, how you dress, what you do etc when it’s really just covering up for the fact that it’s their behaviour that will be unfaithful, not yours.

They on the other hand will be cultivating friendships with as many friends of the attracting sex as they want. They may even tell you that they think their friends have a ‘thing for them’ to encourage a dislike. They are probably also telling them that you are jealous of them and don’t like them.

The lyrics from the song Next to Me are so reassuring and reinforced many things that special about the person in my life now and not just because I know that he doesn’t seek attention of others just to try and play with my head like my previous partner did. His pride in me is palpable. He supports me in everything I do, urges me to achieve and comforts me when I’m unsure of myself or nervous.

You won’t find him trying to chase the devil
For money, fame, for power, out of grief
You won’t ever find him where the rest go
You will find him, you’ll find him next to me

I’d rather have love, faithfulness and support from my SL partner over anything else and I’m lucky enough to have found that.

About the Stuff:

I took this picture just before the opening of The Edge Gallery where I had been asked to exhibit some of my Fashion Blog Photography.
