A couple of years ago Sady commented to me that pain is a powerful muse. I’d just finished taking some photographs that were very expressive and personal to the situation that you have all seen me talk about here in the past. They weren’t the worlds best photos but they expressed the anguish I was feeling at the time perfectly. Shortly before this Sady had had her own period of taking to photography and writing to express her feelings about a situation too. She was right of course. The imagination let fly while the heart was in crisis mode.
Lately I have been having the opposite issue. I normally turn to photos and organizing to take my mind off unhappiness or to fill time and I couldn’t have been happier recently. Inspiration and motivation, that normally comes from sadness, is in short supply. Would I change that? Hell no. I’m on top of the world right now. I’ll just have to work a bit harder to push myself to do things but that’s a small price to pay for how happy and loved I feel right now.
