Frozen Memories

I usually have two books on the go at any one time…one on Audible that I’m listening to and one on my Kindle that I’m reading. I’m currently listening to the new version of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds. I’ve listened to about an hour of the 5 hours and I’m still not sure I can get over it not being Richard Burton’s voice as the narrator, but I am enjoying it so far.  War of the Worlds has always fascinated me even as a child when I first heard Jeff Wayne’s musical version. I was also interested in the stories of fear and mass hysteria that had occurred when Orson Welle’s version War of the Worlds was broadcast on the radio  in the 1930’s though most of that story has now been debunked as mainly hype and over embellishment. Living fairly close to where the story unfolds too is another reason for my interest. Woking, where HG Wells lived, is just up the road. Winchester, which is also mentioned is a 20 min hop in the car down the road from me. When places that I know well are mentioned in books or films it always piques interest.
