Not All Witches Live in Salem

My grandmother was a bank of phrases and sayings…after all she had 98 years to collect them all but she had her favourite things to say. I found myself using some of them lately and they always make me have an inner giggle as I remember her using them. “It’ll be half a crown just to talk to you soon!”, “When you’re big enough you’ll be too old” and many more. 

Whenever I used to ask her, as a child, how she knew something that had me an awe she would say “I’m a witch!”. I always thought she must be a good witch like Glinda in Wizard of Oz. I believed her being a witch was the reason I never got away with any of my misbehaviour as a child. She always caught me, but that wasn’t so bad cos her punishments were never so bad either. I’ve never told my own children I’m a witch but I’m sure there have been times they have called me one!
