I fell down a black hole on youtube the other night and ended up watching a lot of videos from around the time of Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell’s deaths. One of them that I came across was of Chris Cornell’s daughter, Toni, covering Pearl Jam’s Black for Lollapalooza back in July. It was an incredibly beautiful and touching rendition of what is already an excrutiatingly beautiful song. It’s given me such an earworm now…several days later and I still have it on repeat in my head. Now, my favourite Pearl Jam song has always been Yellow Ledbetter and even though I have listened to that in the last few days too it’s still Black that is invading my brain at random moments throughout the day.
