Over the last week or so I’ve been researching the names of some male bloggers for a project I’m working on at MadPea. Many of them I knew already, or followed on facebook, or followed their blog. But I wanted to send them a notecard in world and therefore needed their SL name in order to make contact. This should be easy right? After all we’re bloggers we make it easy for people to contact us? Our job is promotion…surely we promote ourselves and who we are first? Ya think????
I really struggled with some…not all, but some and it made me realise that there must be a huge number of bloggers and blogs out there that aren’t promoting the person behind the blog. They may also be losing out on opportunities and invites because I had to be pretty tenacious to find some of them and other creators and/or blogger managers may not be…and I don’t blame them.
I thought I’d share how I help people track me down…
Facebook is always cracking down on the use of ‘fake’ names and often avatar profiles names have little resemblance to their SL name but there is away round it by using the ‘alternative’ name option which shows up on your profile and when people search for your name you will show in the search results whichever of the two names they use. (Tip If i just said ‘Kess’ as an alternative name it wouldn’t help much with anyone finding me in SL if they don’t know my second name).
On my blog I have a link to all my social media links and who to contact me in world and out.
Flickr is fortunately in my name (though after the Yahoo account debacle a couple of years ago I think this is account number 3?). I use the description to cross reference and reinforce who I am and what I’m representing…i.e. my blog, The Glamour Sauce.
Please, for the love of all things sparkly and new, consider how someone looking at your blog or flickr with a fresh pair of eyes knows how to get in contact with you. They might just want to tell you that you’re awesome…or it may be the blog assignment of your dreams trying to track you down!
About the Stuff
I know! I too have seen a ton of pictures of this sharkini from Tetra but I just couldn’t help myself! Orange is fast becoming the new black for me as I find it works so well with my skin tone and I really like the fit on this. I’m wearing the Maitreya fit but it also comes in both Slink fits too. Lots of great colours to choose from and while I would always recommend demo’g I’m finding Tetra spot on with the Maitreya fit time and time again! The sand tattoos for hands and face are a really cute addition to a summer look too. The beach sand comes in 2 styles, less sand and more sand, and 3 different shades, from light sand to darker sand and as well as coming in system layers come with appliers for Maitreya, Belleza and Slink bodies as well as Catwa and Logo/Omega appliers too! Both of these are available at Summerfest along with my hair which is from Exile and comes in all the usual colour packs and male and female versions.
I’ve really enjoyed the theme for this month at Tres Chic and the dock, candles and couple cushion is from Serenity Style but you’ll need to be quick to grab them from Tres Chic as it’s the final week of the event.
