The title of the post is a line from the prologue of ‘Giles Corey of Salem Farms’ by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. I was so excited when I heard that there was going to be an event this year called Salem as, not only do I have a little Salem inspired area on my sim (TaKe Heart) but I have always had a fascination with the whole New England area of the US. 2 years ago I had an all to brief visit to Massachusetts which focused on Boston and this just heightened my interest in the area and history of that part of the States. Sadly I didn’t get to visit Salem but it’s definitely on the list for next time!
Here’s a little more of that prologue:
Who would believe that in the quiet town
Of Salem, and, amid the woods that crown
The neighboring hillsides, and the sunny farms
That fold it safe in their paternal arms,–
Who would believe that in those peaceful streets,
Where the great elms shut out the summer heats,
