You Can Send No Transfer Love…maybe

Quite often my posts here are inspired by something I’ve seen on Facebook over the preceding days and today is no different. Gifting items in Second Life can be a little hit and miss. You might know if the person is online but with so many scams and phishing ‘bots’ in Second Life many of us are prone to declining inventory we weren’t expecting unless we’re very sure from whom it is being sent. Ideally we’d like to give gifts ourselves that are transferable. The Facebook post I am referring to was a plea for more Second Life creators to offer items with transfer enabled.  Of course, the sacrifice there is in order to be transferable the item would need to be no copy and we all prefer copyable items too, especially if they are high value. Creators prefer no transfer items unless they are Gacha items on the whole.

I was thinking about this last night as I mulled over my various Secret Santa gifts and gifts that I wanted to get for close friends in Second Life and remembered that there is a way to give no transfer items in Second Life but only if the store is using Caspervend vendor system (as far as I know). Most stores in Second Life that use a vendor system either use Casper or E2V. The gifting option I’m about to explain may well be available in the latter system but I am not as familiar with that system as I am with Casper’s so if anyone knows differently please feel free to let me know.

How it works:

1. Click the vendor and choose the gift option
2. Enter the name of the recipient of the gift
3. Pay the vendor
4. Select ‘gift box’ from the drop down menu (rather than direct gift which will send the item directly to the recipient)
5. Click the url to go to the Caspervend page to choose your gift box design
6. Receive your Gift Box in your inventory
7. Give the Gift Box to the recipient yourself
8. Recipient is the ONLY person that can open the box and receive the gift from the server (based on their unique avatar key)

As I say this, as far as I know, is a unique option to Caspertech vendors and the easiest way for you to check if the store you wish to purchase from is using Casper is to go into the contents of a vendor and see if it has Caspervend scripts inside.

I will try add to the list as I find more and I will stress that you should still check the vendor, especially if purchasing from an event, as often creators use a direct sales system as opposed to vendors at busy events. CHECK first before trying to gift!!!

About the Stuff:

On to the fashiony stuff for today! I would normally only talk about new items here but I really can’t tell you how much I love this CoCo bolero I am wearing enough. It was available at FaMESHed a couple of rounds ago and comes in a huge range of colours and I’ve used it in outfits probably 20 times since then.
