You Can’t Always Get What You Want

But if you try sometimes, well, you just might find, that you get what you need.

That song lyric has been in my head for a couple of weeks now because it’s really resonating with me and how I approach certain aspects of my Second Life.  For me, the joy of meeting new people and developing new relationships (a term I am using generically rather than specifically romantic or intimate relationships), is the wonder of seeing how things develop. It’s not the destination but the mystery of the journey that is appealing. You could end up somewhere that you didn’t expect. Acquaintances can develop into more intense or intimate relationships. The excitement is in the just not knowing. Often this relies on us not making assumptions about the other people involved and whether they have an end goal or aspiration. Sometimes they tell you what they want and if that gels with what you want then you can work together on making that happen. The journey can still be as exciting as when you both don’t know what you want and are just happy to see how things progress. You have to ask yourself some tough questions if the direction of travel is not what you want, especially in romantic relationships. You need to decide whether you want to embrace a different vision or take a step back. I dated someone who told me very early on that he wanted the whole SL family, 2.5 prim babies and a pet dog. There are many people out there that would have loved to hear that….not I! I knew at that moment that this probably wasn’t going to go much further. That’s not to say that I can’t compromise when somebody wants things that I wouldn’t have considered or take me outside of my comfort zone but that takes communication and a commitment to still wanting to see things go in a roughly similar direction just maybe going the scenic route instead of the most direct.

About the Stuff:

I really enjoyed putting this outfit together because it’s such a different look for me outside and a total opposite representation of me inside.  The outfit today is from E-Clipse Design and is a two part release for Tres Chic with the Trench coat style bodysuit and the drop dead gorgeous boots being sold seperately in 5 colour options. Fit wise the outfit comes in Belleza Freya and Isis, Slink Hourglass and Original and Maitreya Lara.
