These are a Few of My Favourite Things

I’m having one of those days when it’s difficult to know what to talk about. I prepare the blog, credits and pictures for my post days in advance and then write about what’s on my mind on the day I post it. However, I am also trying not to be too political in my posts and that is becoming increasingly hard. Cited as one of the most popular quotes of all time, and largely attributed to Edmund Burke, the phrase “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” is very much in my thoughts these days.

But, as I have said before, just yesterday in fact, SL is often where we go to escape the stressful situations of real life so I thought I would think about some of my favourite things about Second Life.  Obviously I enjoy blogging, taking pictures and shopping. I love decorating houses…which I really need to get around to doing for myself as I deleted my house and furniture shortly after Christmas and haven’t set up a new one.  I get a buzz out of the work I do in SL whether that be DJ’g or my PR and Marketing work with FaMESHed, Luxe Box and Spotlight Magazine. One of the areas I’ve always been excited about in SL is music, listening to, playing and also the opportunity to see so many talented live musicians in SL. I really adore my close friend circle but I don’t get off my platform often though they nearly always come to my DJ set at Blithe on a Friday so we have quite a regular catch up then. I enjoy going to my friend Meri’s club, AAI on a Sunday and I’m becoming quite the ‘regular’ at hers and Thom’s sets – it’s the perfect opportunity to steal some tunes from the First Couple of Alt and Indie too! I do love a good SL project or one-off event to get my teeth into and over the course of a year I’ve worked with One Billion Rising, Cakes Against Cancer for the Macmillan Coffee Morning and Relay for Life Home and Garden Expo and also the Fantasy Faire.

I think in summary I most just like to be busy and have a fulfilling and varied Second Life that’s full of  fun, frivolity, music and more serious issues. That balance is important to me…with everything going on in the world the idea that SL can be used for serious, important, charitable and education purposes is even more important to me.
