It has been a very long and very stressful week in the real world. The first week back after the Christmas holidays has meant a lot of catching up. I work in a hospital and people don’t stop getting sick or needing treatment just because of the holidays and so this week has been all about the catching up on the paperwork for patients seen over the past 2 weeks. One of the porters, who I hadn’t seen since going back to work on the 2nd said ‘Happy New Year’ to me today and I think I must have looked at him like he was crazy. “It’s far too late for that” I said. I think I stopped wishing people a happy new year around about halfway through that first day at work…in fact, I think I stopped trying to even talk to people at all around about that time as I sunk under a swamp of work.
Anyways, it is now Friday, I’m home, I have a takeaway on order and a bottle of wine in the fridge. Time to kick back and relax, for a few hours at least.
