It’s Okay

I was telling my friend Chris yesterday…or as his IM box is named on Facebook… Dalai Martha Freud…about how I save quotes and memes on Facebook rather than share them. See, when you share them, a few people see them, they like them, they share them, everyone thinks “oooh wise words” or “what a crock of shit” and then they are forgotten. By saving them using the save function on Facebook I can go back and read them over again when I need to be reminded of something, or how a situation or person made me feel.

Today I saved the quote at the top of the post. I have real issues with personal failure, to the point where I will keep flogging a dead horse way past the point of futility, in order to not feel like I am failing. What I have had to shift is my perception of what failure actually is. Instead of trying to make a square peg fit in a round hole I need to realise the failure was at the point I picked up a square peg…not after years of trying to get it to fit in a round hole. The thing I hate to do the most, fail, I’ve been doing deliberately instead of realising that it’s less of a failure to know the limitations of what will be successful and move on to something else. 

Failure starts at the points you try to make someone love you. Success is realising you’re worth someone who really does.
