2020 has been rough on everyone and in almost every aspect of life. It’s tested us personally and our relationships with others. I noticed in myself some changes a few months ago. I was becoming short-tempered, anxious and easy to anger. This was most obvious on social media. I took a step back and thought about how I was responding to things. I found that I was reacting, rather than responding. it didn’t mean that I regretted the point of what I would say but I could have said things differently. I could have cushioned things instead of being so direct and curt.
I’m generally a positive person and can find the silver lining in most situations and it’s usually my first reaction to do so. Notticing that this was no longer my immediate first thought was a change I didn’t like. I don’t immediately respond to much on social media these days. I keep out of arguments that are not my own. I unfollow anyone if I feel that their negativity is having an effect on me. I have never been one to get involved in the criticism of others on social media and I take pains to avoid those that do where possible. That said, I will back up friends where needed but I will try to do it in a balanced way. Generally if it’s not affecting me, or people close to me, I just move on. There are plenty enough other people willing to get into word fights over things, that in the great scheme of things, really do not matter.
I wanted to take a couple of minutes to talk about the items featured in my photograph today. Nutmeg has a really beautiful set now available at Shiny Shabby and I’ve decorated with a few items that are available at the latest round of Anthem. I love this tic tac toe game which comes in three styles, and in playable or decor only versions.
