The Tranquility of Realising I Wasn’t Born to Climb Trees

You’ve probably heard the phrase ‘Jack-of-all-Trades, Master of None’. It refers to people that have a lot of different skills, and are very good at all of them but don’t excel any one single thing. I’ve always found this is to be quite a negative phrase and didn’t truly understand why. Not only why I found it so negative, almost to the point of derision but why it was a bad thing to even be a ‘jack-of-all-trades’. My inner self has been in a turmoil all my life between having a group of skills that I feel I am reasonably good at but never feeling like I have ever really excelled at anything.

I saw a quote by Albert Einstein that put this all into perspective. He said:

Everyone is a Genius. But if you judge a fish on it’s ability to climb a tree, it will live it’s whole life believing it is stupid

Maybe I’ve been picking the wrong things to try and excel at because I know climbing trees is never going to be one. I’m a Pisces and should probably not try climbing trees as a future career move. In Second Life I feel in a good place right now with the things I have chosen to focus on…my work at MadPea and blogging. I don’t do things by halves and I know that at the moment I am working hard to excel in those areas and I’ve taken out of my SL some of the things that I felt I was failing at.

Now I know that one of the things I excel at is shopping! I’m a Pro! There were a few things that I wanted to pick up from Fantasy Gacha Carnival so I hopped over there this morning. I wanted to put together the scenes above specifically featuring this gorgeous Gokstad [Faering] from cinphul. The creator behind cinphul provides some information and background to the creation:

This creation was inspired by the Gokstad viking ships discovered in Norway in 1880. If you often search the grim reaper waiting in the Styx to claim deliver souls you’ll find a lot of the boats were inspired by Gokstad.

The boat can sit 1 driver and upto 2 passengers and comes with a sickle for making your way to the darkside. It will be available from tomorrow at Cosmopolitan Event.

  1. Your post is so wonderful, Kess! And what a beautifully apt and perfect Albert Einstein quote. You certainly are wonderful at SL blogging, and even blogging has its many niches and specializations. I know when I came back, I hoped to do well at all of them, but when it comes to things like home & decor, I just don’t have the knack and talent for creating beautiful spaces – and that’s okay! When we try to master everything, we sometimes excel at nothing. And you, my dear friend, are truly excellent through and through! ♥

    1. Ever! what a beautiful thing to say. I know you excel way more than me with always knowing exactly the right thing to say. Thank you so much for the kind words from such a kind heart ❤
