I Get What I Want! I wish this was some declaration of how life always turns out the way I had planned. No such luck unfortunately. There are lots of things I want…some material, some emotional and some more altruistic and I fall woefully short most of the time in all three categories. Does that mean I’m unhappy? Hell, no! I try to focus on what I do have and not what has escaped me. I say I try because while I think I’m relatively successful at that, and on the whole I’m a very positive person, I do have days and times where that’s not so easy.
Writing this post reminded me of one such time this weekend. My friend, fellow blogger and DJ, Mericat Ireland came to my DJ set at Blithe on Friday. We were talking about a not dissimilar subject and she said something along the lines of ‘Your journey depends on who you let drive the car’. It was a great thought and I told her there and then that I would be using it in a blog post at some point. Of course, the point of what she was saying is that if you let other people control your emotions you can’t really complain about how you’re feeling. Easier said than done as I’m sure she would also agree. It wasn’t long after that that I should have put her words into practice when faced with an ugly blast of the past rearing it’s head. I didn’t I’m ashamed to say. I reacted emotionally and rather disappointingly but hell, at least I own my mistakes?
