Friends will be Friends

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I’m seriously the worst friend EVER.  I have a very small, close friend group…very, very small and I have so much love and admiration for the ladies in that group but I do have a tendency to be a little reclusive. Often that’s because I’m super busy in SL but sometimes it’s just my nature to potter along at my own pace. I realised recently how much news of my friends lives I was missing out on. I was completely out of the loop on some pretty major changes for some of them and I had no one to blame but myself. I’m fairly confident that those friends knew that if they needed me I would have dropped everything to be there for them but I did feel very sad that their pain had gone largely unnoticed by me from inside my bubble.

Fortunately I’ve been able to spend a little more time with them this week, largely in part to them organising a rez day party for myself, and my friend Grace as we share a rez day. It was perfect…it was good friends, hanging out and the return of one of my favourite DJ’s in SL ‘banging’ out the tunes! The next day I immediately went back to the mad hecticness of my SL and didn’t even really get a chance to say thank you. Another friend fail on my behalf. I’m not really one for New Year resolutions but I think I need to make an earlier one and make a concerted effort to be a better friend to those who love me and not sit around and wait for them to come to me when there’s an issue.
