There are lots of things I can rely on my friends to do or say given the opportunity. Top of that list is ‘lower the tone’ (they know who they are and I can assure you they just read that and said to themselves “yups, she’s talking about me” with a broad grin on their faces). So, when I posted on Facebook account referring to 15 minutes of happiness I knew where most of their minds would go and I found it highly amusing to be proved right.
In the latter half of 2016 I’ve come to several realisations about myself and what I want from my Second Life and the people in it and they have been polar opposites of what my views were this time last year. A friend of mine, who I have had the pleasure of getting to know very well this year, surprised me when she told me about her SL relationship. Her and her partner have very limited time on SL together and while they keep in touch offline, their SL time is ‘short and sweet’. When I first discussed this with her my immediate reaction was ‘oh that just would not work for me…I’d hate it’. She laughed and said that before she met her partner she would have agreed.
I was still pretty skeptical I have to say but over the last few months my mind has changed. I’ve realised that it’s not about the amount of time someone is around but the quality of that time and how that time leaves you feeling. I am a convert to ‘short and sweet’ and couldn’t be happier to have embraced that. I enjoy the words of Jason King and particularly this quote:
Time is the one currency you can give someone and never get back…spend it wisely
2016 is the year I realised that it’s the quality and not the quantity of that currency that is a measure of how rich you are and I’m lucky enough to be very well-off right now.
About the Stuff:
In the run up to the release of Bento I was pretty much ‘meh’ and I’m still not convinced over the heads. I’m really quite happy with my Catwa Destiny for now. However, I saw a friend with Bento Vista Prohands and knew instantly I was going to have to have them! I jumped straight in with the hands, AO and the rings collection all available at the Vista store.
Shiny Shabby has been open for a good few days but, with the holidays, if you haven’t made it over there yet you should definitely take the time for a visit. I’m wearing the Nemo Jacket from E-Clipse Design which comes in 5 colours and in fits for Belleza Freya and Isis, Slink Hourglass and Original and Maitreya Lara (worn) fits. The jacket comes with a hud to remove or show the lower part of the jacket and the undershirt and also with 6 colour options for the undershirt to mix and match.
I dug about in my inventory for something to match up with the jacket and found this gem of a skirt from !APHORISM! which comes in fits for Maitreya Lara and Slink Hourglass and Original and in a range of fabulous colours. I LOVE finding those little surprises I’ve forgotten about in my inventory and it’s something I want to do more of next year…dig out the goodies from the inventory and give them a good airing!
