Leave it all behind

I had one of those odd days yesterday where I found myself wondering about the ex of all ex’s. Voldemort, as we call him. I remember talking to a friend a few weeks ago who had recently gone through a break up and she expressed how she wished she could stop looking to see if her ex had been online, if he’d changed his profile, wondering what he was doing, with whom…etc. All the normal stuff we obsess a little bit about and all of them perfectly normal after the break down of a long term relationship. I told her it gets easier…I didn’t tell her quite how long it can take. I still have days, usually when I’m exhausted and already feeling low when Voldemort enters my mind and I find myself looking. The key difference is how I feel when I look. I’m no longer sad or angry with myself. I no longer feel stupid. Quite the opposite…I feel liberated that I can look at him and not feel anything, except maybe some sympathy for him and for anyone else that has had the misfortunate to pass his way since. The effects of that relationship are still shaping my decisions and how guarded I am but as for the person…he’s never been more in the past than he is now.

About the Stuff:

Uber just opened it’s doors for another round and this time it’s a theme round. Interestingly the theme is The Hamptons and I say interestingly, because being in the UK this theme didn’t really mean much to me other than having heard The Hamptons referenced in a few tv shows.
