Closer to Home

I had a very long day at work yesterday but a joyful one. I usually finish work mid-afternoon as I start super early in the morning. I’m a morning person so this works for me but today I had to work until later in the day to attend a meeting. I decided to drive to the meeting and set off around lunchtime for the 50 minute journey. Plugging the postcode into Google on my phone I chose the slightly slower, but more scenic route…after all it was a glorious day and I had left myself plenty of time.

Although I live in a town that is often the butt of jokes but one of the most fabulous things about it to me is that you only have to drive 5 minutes, in any direction, to be out in the fabulous English countryside. As I drove, windows open, radio on, I took in the countryside around me and I’m not sure what it was specifically that struck me, but about halfway through the journey, as I was filling my lungs with deep breaths of fresh air, I thought to myself “You’re so bloody lucky to have this on your doorstep”. I think I saw about every shade of green imaginable in the course of 40 miles…trees, bushes, shrubs, roadside verges. I passed farms, animals grazing in fields, beautiful cottages and houses and even the quintessentially English thatched cottage. A field of bluebells, fields with horses, fields with footpaths through them with a few ramblers taking in the views on foot. I saw birds, ducks, bees and more.

So often, I’m rushing around from A to B and don’t really take in what’s around me, practically on my doorstep. I was almost disappointed when I got to the hotel but at least I could start to look forward to the journey back home again.

About the Stuff:

There’s a couple of darker events going on at the moment, including The Dark Style Fair and The Coven. The dress I’m wearing today is available from The Annex at The Coven and comes in 4 colours and in fits for Slink Hourglass, Original and Maitreya Lara (worn).  It’s a loose, shift style dress with a subtle colour and lace overlay and fits the theme of the event so well!

The body corset stitchings on my arms and legs are from RealEvil and available at the 5th Anniversary round of FaMESHed.  There are 3 elements, back, arms and legs and a colour hud to change the colours and textures of the metals, laces and straps.
