Getaway

We are expecting some very cold weather in the UK today with snow forecast pretty much everywhere. I live pretty close to where I work and I have a 4×4 vehicle so whatever happens I can get to and from work with ease. Not the same for many of my co-workers who travel from out of town. When it snowed a couple of years ago it took one of my colleagues 6 hours to make a journey that is usually 45 minutes. My manager joked yesterday that if she got trapped in town by the snow it was ok because “Karen just lives nearby, I’ll stay there”. I’m pretty sure my face said “No, you won’t” pretty loud and clear without the need for me to open my mouth. It’s not that I wouldn’t want to help someone in need…I am just really private and like my personal space. “Yes” I said, “I live close by….right next to a hotel you can stay in”. Fingers crossed my house is not invaded by colleagues and co-workers that can’t get home in the snow today! Better still, I’m hoping the snow doesn’t start until after everyone is home from work safe and sound.
