Good morning! I was listening to the radio while taking this shot and that may not seem unusual but it has been for me. I stopped listening to the radio a few months ago. It used to be the first thing I switched on in the morning in my bedroom. I’d listen to it while in the shower, then downstairs in the kitchen while I made coffee, then in the car on the way to work. That stopped. I moved to listening to audiobooks or playlists that I controlled, so I could be sure what I would hear. There were many songs I did not want to hear, many that were regular tunes on the radio. I didn’t want to risk it.
This week I had to go on a short car journey with someone else, in their car. They had the radio on. It happened. A song played that I had avoided. I turned and looked out of the car window and listened. Nothing. The world didn’t end. I didn’t get upset. I didn’t spontaneously combust. Nothing happened. It reminded me yet again that we give more power to people and feelings when we fear them than when we face them.
No more fear.
